NELSD Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back! The beginning of the 2022-23 school year is fast approaching. I hope you all have had a wonderful summer and are as excited for the new school year to start as the Northeastern Local School District (NELSD) team.
This year is exciting for us, with students at the Northeastern Campus starting in a brand new building and the new PK-12 Kenton Ridge building coming along nicely! You may notice some other changes for the start of the school year that our NELSD team has been working hard over the summer to roll out.
SafetyWe are committed to our students' safety and have added a new team member with this commitment in mind, Deputy Tyler Reaver, our new district school resource officer (SRO). Deputy Reaver comes to us through the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and is our dedicated SRO, meaning he will only work with NELSD. Previously, we shared an SRO with other districts, so we look forward to this new change. In addition, Deputy Reaver happens to be a Northeastern alum! So please help us welcome Deputy Reaver to the NELSD family and give him a wave or say hello when you see him on our campuses.

Back-to-School Hub, you will find information about Orientations, Open Houses, the 2022-23 District Calendar, Handbooks, Supply Lists, Transportation and Food Services information and more!
As we moved into one of our new buildings this summer, we started implementing new phones across the District. This move was complex and not without some growing pains, which you likely noticed if you tried calling one of our buildings and received a busy tone or were rerouted to the Board Office. However, our team is working diligently with our providers to get the kinks ironed out as soon as possible.
Over the summer, we fully transitioned from OneView to FinalForms to simplify our forms management system. In FinalForms, our families can update their parent/guardian contact information, Emergency Medical Authorization (EMA) forms, new student registration, and athletic forms, just to name a few.
If you have not done so already, parents/guardians must create a parent account, add your student and complete your forms immediately. Doing this is imperative so we can get a hold of you in the case of an emergency or to continue communicating important information. You can find the link to create an account and the FinalForms Parent Playbook at the top of our
Back-to-School Hub.
We have also changed from Bright Arrow to The Education Connection (TEC) to deliver SMS texts, phone calls and emails to our parents/guardians. Phone calls from the new notification system will come from (937) 568-7117 and text messages from 64085. We recommend that you save these numbers on your phone to help prevent your carrier from blocking essential news from the school district.
For more information on how to receive text notifications click here. If you receive a missed call from this number, you can call it back and relisten to the message sent to families. Additionally, NELSD is using the TEC system for attendance notification calls.
Our social media accounts are another way to stay engaged with NELSD. The District has active Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts. You can access these accounts by clicking the appropriate icon under our website’s search feature. Give us a follow!
Free and Reduced Meals & School FeesNELSD has moved from EZpay to PaySchools Central for school fees, managing lunch money, and free and reduced meal applications. EZpay and PaySchools Central are now the same company, so this was a necessary change.
During the last school year, children and families benefited from no-cost school meals for all students, made possible by special permission from the United States Department of Agriculture. Unfortunately, these permissions have expired. Northeastern Local School District and the Ohio Department of Education cannot extend the permissions for no-cost meals for all students.
School meals will still be available to all students; however, they will not be free to all students. As was done before the pandemic, households may apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits. Free/Reduced Meal Applications can be submitted via the online system PaySchools Central. In addition, information on meal prices, how to manage your child’s lunch account, pay school fees, or apply for free and reduced meals is available on our
Back-to-School Hub by clicking here and scrolling down.
I am eager to start the school year and look forward to having our Bears, Jets, and Cougars back in our classrooms. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by email at
[email protected] or by phone at (937) 325-7615.
Respectfully,
