Middle Urbana Road Construction - 8/3/22

Dear NELSD Families,

We wanted to share information with our community that we received today from the Clark County Engineer’s Office regarding the construction on Middle Urbana Road.

Starting in July, the Clark County Engineer’s Office began construction on Middle Urbana Road, which impacts the traffic flow to the Northridge neighborhood and into Kenton Ridge High School.

The first phase, which began on July 25, 2022, closes off the south end of Middle Urbana Road from State Route 334 to the south entrance that leads into the student parking lot of Kenton Ridge High School. Traffic on the north side of Middle Urbana Road from the main entrance for Kenton Ridge High School to Moorefield Road is open to traffic in both directions. Please see the maps below for a visual representation of the change to the traffic pattern.

The road construction on Middle Urbana Road will last approximately 120 calendar days over multiple phases to allow for access to Kenton Ridge High School throughout the project. The temporary road closure accommodates replacing the concrete curb and gutter, drive approaches, storm sewer, asphalt planning, and other paving operations on the south half of Middle Urbana Road.

A temporary entrance to the student lot has been put in at Kenton Ridge High School to help redirect the traffic flow during school drop-off and pickup and for athletic and other school events. While this isn’t a perfect solution, and traffic will be slow-moving during busier school activities, this new traffic pattern will help the project proceed on time. Please see the map below for a visual representation of this change.

NELSD will send out additional communications and updated maps as we receive notification regarding the start of Phase 2, Phase 3, and any other changes.

As always, please reach out to us with any questions you have.  I can be reached at the Board Office by calling (937) 325-7615 or by email at [email protected]

Respectfully,

John P. Kronour, Ph.D.

Superintendent, Northeastern Local Schools
