Walkden Named Curriculum Director for Northeastern Local School District

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, July 22, 2022 —The Northeastern Local School District (NELSD) hires Ms. Beverly Walkden as Curriculum Director. The NELSD Board of Education approved Ms. Walkden’s hiring at the board meeting last night, Thursday, July 21, 2022.

“Ms. Walkden brings a wealth of experience in developing and maintaining curriculum, instruction, assessment and gifted programs,” said Superintendent John Kronour. “We look forward to having her elevate our educational programs for our students and staff across the District.”

Walkden begins her new position for NELSD on Monday, July 25, 2022.  In this role, she will be responsible for the development of districtwide curriculum implementation, collaborating with teachers on curriculum adoptions and revisions, overseeing staff professional development for NELSD, and more.

“I am excited about working with Ms. Walkden and the experience in curriculum that she brings to Northeastern Local Schools,” said Assistant Superintendent Shawn Blazer.

“I’m excited to join the Northeastern family as their Curriculum Director,” said Ms. Walkden. “I’m looking forward to working with staff and administration as we continue the forward momentum already in progress in the district. What a great time to join Northeastern!”  

Most recently, Walkden served as Curriculum Coordinator for Greeneview Local School District, where she worked for 18 years. As Curriculum Coordinator, she was responsible for implementing and maintaining the district’s Development Reading Assessment tool, assisting in the planning and promotion of STEM education, and coordinating and implementing professional development for staff, to name a few. She also served as the Instruction, Assessment and Gifted Coordinator. Additionally, Walkden has been an Adjunct Professor for Ashland University since 2007, where she offers workshop opportunities for staff to earn college credit and performs peer observations and group presentations

Before joining Greeneview, Walkden worked in Danville Local Schools for nine years as Director of Pupil Services and a Title I Teacher. Walkden was also a second grade teacher and department chair for Chinle Unified School District for two years.

Walkden holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. In addition, she has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Administration from Ashland University. Walkden also holds a Superintendent License from the University of Dayton.
