NELSD Groundbreaking Postponed
The Northeastern Local School District will postpone its planned Groundbreaking to the fall of 2020, due to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s April 20 announcement that school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
“It is important to our leadership that our students and staff have an opportunity to be part of this historic event, which is why we chose to originally schedule the groundbreakings for a school day in May,” said Superintendent John Kronour. “In order to give our students and staff that opportunity, we will reschedule the event for a later date.”
The postponement of the groundbreaking ceremonies, which were originally scheduled for May 15, 2020, will not impact the work schedule for the projects. A new groundbreaking date will be shared with the community as we get a clearer picture from the state about large gathering guidelines for the fall.
The district will update the community about progress on the facilities project on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
“We are excited to celebrate the groundbreaking of the facilities project with our community, but our top priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and community,” said Superintendent Kronour. “We look forward to the day we are able to all come together to celebrate this important step for our entire community.”
