Northridge Elementary, South Vienna Middle Earn Momentum Award
Northeastern Local School District continues to be a leader in year-to-year student growth, with Northridge Elementary and South Vienna Middle School earning 2019 Momentum Awards.
This is South Vienna Middle School’s fourth and Northridge Elementary School’s second Momentum Award, a designation from the State Board of Education that recognizes districts and schools that help students exceed growth expectations for learning. It is given to districts and individual schools that earn straight As on the value-added section of the state report card for helping students grow academically by more than a year.
"Our educators work hard every day to help each student reach their educational goals and the Momentum Award is recognition that we are helping our students grow academically,” said Superintendent Dr. John Kronour. “It's a credit to our teachers, staff, students, and families that their hard work and commitment makes a meaningful impact.”
Forty eight districts and 173 schools received the Momentum Award for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year, according to the Ohio Department of Education. Only 3 schools in Clark County received the recognition.
“The students, teachers, administrators and staff honored today are shining examples to peers and colleagues around Ohio,” said State Board of Education President Laura Kohler. “We are so proud of these award recipients and the effort they put in to learning, leading and growing every day. We are both encouraged and challenged by the example of excellence they are setting.”
