Three South Vienna staff members helped create a memorable trip to Hoosier Stadium in Knightstown, Indiana for SVMS basketball players by helping the trip move forward after delays and showing up to surprise the team with scrimmage games.
T South Vienna Middle School 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams were invited by their coaches to attend a trip to the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, Indiana on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019. The coaches arranged the trip earlier in the season but several issues derailed the plans.
Seeing a memorable opportunities for the young players, South Vienna Intervention Specialist Jeremy Doss and Principal Zack Dobbelaere jumped in to help provide solutions.
"A huge thanks is due to both men who saved the day for the boys by helping to arrange for a bus and even offered to help pay for it out of their own pockets if necessary," siad Coach Brad Whip.
In addition to helping the trip happen, Mr. Doss, Mr. Dobbelaere and Teacher Reed Jones surprised the team by driving to Knightstown and playing against them in several scrimmage games. The entire 8th grade team along with the team statistician made the trip as did 4 members of the 7th grade team. All 13 students had a fantastic time and made memories that will last a lifetime.
"This is just one more example of the amazing staff that you have provided this district," said Coach Whip. "Thank you for all that you do!"
