Northridge School Moves to Virtual Learning through October 23

Northridge Middle and Elementary School students will learn virtually beginning Monday, October 12, to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.

The Northeastern Local School District will move all Northridge students to virtual learning through Friday, October 23, on the advice of the Clark County Combined Health District. The district will implement its prepared Virtual Learning Plan so that all students can continue their learning during this period.

The district anticipates students will return to school in-person on Monday, October 26. All athletics and activities will be canceled through Friday, October 23.

“While we all know that health and safety must be our top priority, we recognize that this period of virtual learning and suspended activities is disappointing for many of our students, staff, and families,” said Superintendent John Kronour. "By following the advice of the health department, we hope that we will all be learning together at school again on Monday, October 26.

Staff will have the option to work from home or school during this time.

The decision to move to virtual learning was made after the district was notified of two confirmed cases and three probable cases of COVID-19 over the last week. A number of students were also identified as contacts - defined as someone who is within 6 feet of an individual with a confirmed case of COVID for 15 minutes or more - by the Clark County Combined Health District and are now in quarantine.

The Clark County Combined Health District will complete contact tracing to identify other students or staff who may need to quarantine for 14 days. Close contacts will receive a phone call from the Clark County Combined Health District within 24 hours; in some cases, CCCHD may also send a text message to families of students identified as a contact. Only individuals who have been in close contact with the person testing positive will be contacted directly by CCCHD and given directions on the quarantine process.
